THE DAVID CHOCOLATE BAR

I was able to meet visitors who came to see my work and Kaweesi's, and to share with them a Jesus Who is not distant from the African culture — or from any culture.

I hugged many people. I remember that at first, some of them thought they were just receiving an ordinary hug. Then they felt my embrace lingered, and they responded by letting themselves relax in my arms. These are precious memories for me, and I believe they are eternal imprints left on their hearts.

“FOR GOD SPEAKS TIME AND AGAIN, BUT A PERSON MAY NOT NOTICE IT.”

I had the honor of replacing Eric Turcott as a tenant of the Luz Art Gallery NYC in May, as he flew to Venice for our art show as part of the 2026 Venice Biennale.

First days have a way of staying with us: the first day of school, the first day at a new job, a first encounter, your first trip to a new country… My first day serving at Luz Art Gallery was special.

It was May 1st. After opening the gallery, I went downstairs to grab some lunch at a grocery store nearby.
As I was walking, I saw a man sitting on the sidewalk who appeared to be homeless. He was watching something on his phone.
The Holy Spirit said to me, “When you get your lunch, get one for him too. And choose a meal as if you were choosing it for Me—and I’m picky.”
I replied, amused, “Okay, Lord.”

I greeted the man and asked if he had eaten yet. From his reaction, I sensed that he had already had something to eat, but it hadn’t been enough. So I told him I’d like to get him something to eat, and that he could always save it for later.
He accepted my offer, and off I went to Heavenly Market.

Once I got there, Jesus told me what He wanted for him: a plate of pasta with salmon, and broccoli or asparagus (my memory is a little fuzzy on that part). I also got him a piece of cake, if I remember correctly, and a bottle of water.

This is where things get powerful.

As I was heading to the checkout to pay, I walked past a shelf of chocolate bars. One of them was called David. In an instant, I had a vision: I saw myself picking up the David bar, buying it, giving it to the man, and telling him, “I’m giving this to you because you are a David.”

I brushed that vision off as fast as I had it. I assumed it was just my own thoughts.
I left the store, walked over to the man, and gave him his meal.
As we exchanged a few words, I asked him, “What’s your name?”
He said, “David.”

I said, “WHAT?! Wait, you have to hear what happened to me in the store!”

I told him about the vision God had given me. Then I said:

- I have to go get you that chocolate bar!

- No, it’s okay, you don't have to do that.

- Oh, yes, I do!

So I got up (I had been crouching down so I wouldn’t be looking down at him) and went back into the store to get the David chocolate bar. Then I came back to David and gave it to him!
I was so happy! After praying for him, I wished him a good meal and gave him a hug.

He was shocked. Shocked that someone would care about him, buy him a good meal, receive a vision from God about him, go back to get the chocolate bar, pray with him, and hug him. All this, when the world has, in so many ways, made him invisible.

And that’s when things took a serious turn: he looked at me and said, “Who are you?” His breathing grew heavier, as he was repeating the question: “Who are you???”

I’m almost certain he thought he was seeing an angel. I started to feel uneasy, and I pointed to the sky and said, “It’s Jesus,” wanting him to know that none of what had happened came from me, but from Jesus.

I had to leave because I could feel pride creeping in. I couldn’t take glory that didn’t belong to me. The glory belongs to Jesus alone.
I said goodbye to David and went back to the gallery.

David was deeply moved by this encounter. And so was I.

The vision was as quiet as a whisper and as fleeting as the wind, yet it truly came from Heaven. God had shown it to me.
The Bible says that God’s thoughts toward us are beyond counting. He really does speak to us—far more than we realize.

GOD SPEAKS MORE THAN 8 BILLION TIMES EVERY SECOND—ONCE TO EVERY SOUL.

HOW MANY OF US STOP TO LISTEN TO WHAT HE IS SAYING?

“Now I truly understand that God doesn’t show favoritism” (Acts 10:34)

ONE EVENING, WHILE HAVING DINNER, I ASKED JESUS WHAT HE WAS THINKING ABOUT. HE ANSWERED, “DAFFODILS.” 🌼

ASK GOD A SIMPLE, ORDINARY QUESTION. THEN BE STILL AND GIVE HIM ROOM TO SPEAK TO YOUR HEART. TELL ME, WHAT DID HE ANSWER YOU? 😃

Jesus loves you ✝️=♥️
